We have moved!

We have moved and mummy and daddy have been so busy that they haven't had time to tell you about what we have been up to.

We had to be fenced in at first and yesterday we discovered some lovely stones to chew.

Daddy has been busy putting fencing around our new garden, it is huge and full of lovely things.
Today was our first day out and we discovered the compost heap and found lots of tasty titbits to eat before daddy caught us and tried to make us stop. We can't say what we were eating in case anyone reading is eating their sandwiches.

But as you can see we are such innocents we wouldn't get up to anything naughty..........

Maisie's has told me to tell you that her eye is getting better and another check up is due in a week or two. Not that I am jealous or anything but she seems to be making far to much fuss and getting more than her fair share of cuddles for my liking.

We have new sleeping arrangements. Of all the luck the airing cupboard is in the kitchen and we have decided to save space by sleeping on the bottom shelf. Our bean bag fits in really snugly and there's room for two cushions as well.
Mummy and daddy complain that we have the warmest bedroom in the house, we've told them to keep out!

Maisie's spot

We have also been for some walks in our new village and met the beagles who live next door but one. They are very loud and bark at us, Chester is very brave and barks back once they have passed us.

Each morning mummy gives us a chew stick after breakfast, yummee, the other day she forgot so Chester opened the cupboard and we got our own. Mummy and daddy were so surprised to see us munching away, but they couldn't be cross as we had only taken one each.

It's been said that I'm getting a little rotund, Hmmph, do they not know that Pugs have a naturally stout stature, the cheek of some people.

We will be bark again soon....................

A spot of sunshine

It's been a couple of weeks since I last wrote, it's been such a busy time teaching Maisie the right look, big eyes, head slightly tilted to get the best snacks and ensure constant attention.

I'm glad to report that Maisie's eye looks to be getting better, I've been very gentle but it can be hard when being bitten on every part of my body!

So it was nice to find that Maisie enjoys the sun as much as me and you can see us here taking in some mid November sunshine.
The only disturbance comes from daddy who keeps trying to take pictures of us, we give him our hardest stare though and that usually stops him.
I was taken to the vets as well last week, mummy thought my knee was playing up and it kept making me limp. After the vet gave my leg a thorough examination it stopped happening, how strange.
Our uncle Chris is here at the moment and one of our favourite games is to jump up at him when he is trying to play on his Playstation and is not giving us his full attention.
Next week we are moving and mummy and daddy have told us the garden is much bigger so we'll have loads of fun playing outside. I'm so looking forward to long walks with Maisie and especially jogging with Auntie Nicola when she comes to stay.

Maisie's mini diary - I don't think it's fair that Chester gets more food than me, you can tell by the way I eat mine so quickly that I must be really hungry, but he always gets more and eats it sooo slowly. Sometimes though when M & D's backs are turned I get to eat Chester's food as well.
I'm now allowed to sleep on Chester's bean bag at night instead of that horrible crate thing. I can lay next to Chester and always be warm.

Love,
Chester and Maisie

Maisie and Chester's bad day

Maisie's day
I visited the vet last week and had my first injection, then this week mummy and daddy were worried about my eye. It was slightly cloudy from when I came to my new home and last week the vet wasn't to worried.
Today though a corneal ulcer has been diagnosed so I'm having eye drops six times a day and I'm feeling really sorry for myself.Big brother Chester is being very good though and not chasing me to much.
I'm having lots of cuddles with mummy and daddy and that makes me feel better too.

Chester's day
After my morning run in the garden I ran back inside the house and saw the two black cats that live here too, Dolly and Smith. I chased them to the back door and unfortunately one got scared and batted me with a claw making me bleed.
It was a bit of a fright and I went with Maisie to the vets and he gave me a penicillin shot. I've been very quiet today having to keep an eye open for those cats all day.

We're both hoping for no more days like today.

Maisie arrives

Mummy and Daddy came to see me on 12th October and I had a great time with Chester who came with them.
They returned the very next day and took me to their home with my new big brother Chester.

Mummy wrapped me in a blanket to sleep.

Chester and I hit it off right away!

We love to run around and play all of the time and when Chester gets to much I know just where to nip him and make him stop!We love each other really, look at us sleeping together.

I think I'll have to make some changes to the household though, more chicken and especially more cheese. A separate room for Chester would also help as he does snore rather loudly.
Mummy says I can have some pearls soon, I'll be showing them here as soon as I get them.Bye for now, have to get my beauty sleep and be alert for the vet and my injections tomorrow.
Love from Maisie xx

Two Pug Parties and a trip to the vets

I've had a really busy couple of weeks. Firstly a Pug party in aid of the Pug Rescue and Welfare Association in Cheshire. this was the first time I have ever met with other pugs and there were so many :-)
It was sunny and warm and while mummy and daddy bought raffle tickets and ate sandwiches I got to know as many new friends as possible.

There were loads of Puggy games and even fancy dress, I showed off my new camo' jacket, see me in the picture with mummy.
I was exhausted at the end and slept all the way home.

The following week was another Pug party, it rained a lot and the fun and games were held indoors.I met one of my dogster pals here, Lily, she looked beautiful in pearls and fairy outfit :-)
Here I am trying to make friends with Lily, but what chance dressed as a pumpkin, I ask you!

Daddy held me in the 'owner most like his pug' competition but we didn't win, and although mummy's hair is growing back in after her chemo she still doesn't have the sleek style and colour of my fur so no chance there either.
I told them they'll both have to smarten up if they want a chance of winning next year.

But oh, this week, I was taken in the car to see my old friend (now ex friend) the vet.
Mummy and Daddy left me there, I hugged Mummy and wanted to go home with her too but the vet had made me soooo sleepy.
I'm back home now, sore underneath but still able to scoot around the house ...something is missing though I can't put my paw on just what it is ???????

Some more party pics,

Today it rained

Today it rained.....and rained......then a brainwave......'let's try out Chester's new coat' and I heard mummy and daddy enthusing over the proposed trial. I tried to make a run for it but the doors were closed and suddenly the coat was on me. Mummy bravely volunteered to assist me to the middle of the garden, then while I tried my best to pose in the lashing rain, daddy took pictures from inside (lucky him, wish I could use a camera).

I did get my own back though by showing how clever I am by escaping through the cat flap. I had great fun while daddy tried to catch me scooting around the garden. Now daddy has had to fix the door to the back hall so I can't escape.

The new coat

On Friday my new coat arrived, it is great, fleecy lined to keep me warm and waterproof as well!

How fortunate that it was mummy's ??th birthday and all the family were here to see me in my new outfit (and celebrate mummy's birthday while they were here).

I especially like to have my photograph taken and have developed a stern pout for formal pictures, a male model has to practice. The lady in America where we bought the coat had asked for a photo of me in my new camo so that she can put me on her website. The shop is called Pugsnugly and my photo is on there now!
I am a male model now,  and while daddy takes some very good shots I feel in need of a more professional approach, so if anyone out there is looking for the next Pug-of-the-year I'm here and available..........

There are times when even in the Midlands it just gets to hot for a Pug puppy and one has to stop playing for a few moments and take a breather.

I'm a man mummy

Today I had a strange experience. I went into the garden and felt the need to lift my leg rather than squat, it was odd!
Mummy and Daddy laughed and said I had become a man, I was so excited I tried again in the hall  but mummy did not seem so pleased that time.
I'm watching out for the postman every day, I may even be friends with him when my parcel arrives.
I have been browsing the internet and chosen a lovely coat for the winter. Mummy had to pay for it as I'm not old enough to get a credit card, perhaps if I tell the bank I can cock my leg now..............................

The Handsomest Pug

I went to the vet last week for a check up and he said I had become a very handsome chap. Daddy told mummy we will have trouble getting my head through the door if I get to many more compliments.

Now I'm a big boy and to large to sit on Daddy's lap I've decided that I'll have the seat for myself and Daddy will have to work somewhere else.

Mummy sits opposite me at her desk and I know she thinks it is a great idea because of course I'm so much more handsome than Daddy!

There is a Pug party near us in October and we are all looking forward to it, there are no pug friends here so I'm going to make lots of new ones.

Three cats also live here, I let them stay, but it is a constant worry making sure they are not in the room that I have chosen to be in. I had a spooky experience the other night as I was settling down to sleep, I felt another presence in my room and was alarmed to find brother Smith trying to share space with me.
It was only 1am so I barked and barked until I woke Mummy who woke Daddy who came down and got a shock as he opened the door and Smith leapt out over the baby (anti Chester escape) gate.

My best friend Lucy

Today mummy's friend arrived, I let them talk while I got to know Lucy. She's REALLY old, mummy said 14 years, WOW, but that made her a bit slow and all my best attempts to make her play failed. I tried eating the tail, chewing the ear, licking paws, mouth, nose, in fact anywhere I could reach and she ignored me! I had great fun though following her everywhere she went..

We eventually agreed a compromise, we both lay down for a sleep near each other. I hope she comes back soon.

The Welsh Fan Club

I've been told that a number of my welsh fans (in LW, you know who you are) have been unable to keep up with my news as they cannot get onto my Dogster page.
Mummy says I should make sure you can read all about me here as well.

Today M and D went out and left me alone, when they returned I forgave them when I saw the HUGE bag of food, nearly four times larger than me and a new basket for me to sleep in.

I wasn't sure at first, it looks like cheap plastic to me (I'll be posting pictures soon for comments), but it is now filled with blankets so I'm prepared to give it a go.

Tomorrow Mummy's friend is coming over with her owner, Lucy, a Springer Spaniel, I hope she wants to play, not like the boring puppies at my classes.

Keep looking for more news and and especially pictures of ME.

Holiday by the Sea

Holidays by the sea!August 4th 2006 3:02 pm

I had a lovely time on my holidays but it was really hot!

Daddy had to keep the air cond on in the car all the time.
I like being in the car and now I don't have to be in the crate its even better.
Daddy bought me a harness so I can ride alongside him.
We went to the beach and everything.

Mummys hair is growing back in now after her chemo. It's all curly and she doesn't like it.

It has been cooler since we got home and I never feel much like going out when it's windy and raining so I've been yelled at a lot for finding an inside toilet....dunno what all the fuss is about.

The parents have sussed where I'm getting all my outside tasty treats from and blocked my way in....you'd think they would be pleased at the way I pick up extra free protein from recycling cat waste.

No pleasing some people.

A big cardboard box came today with all sorts of junk in it for mummy and daddy but I got the best bit...the box! I played inside that for ages among the shredded paper. See you again soon dudes,
Chester x

A certificate for me!!

Last Friday I went to my sixth and final puppy class and was awarded a certificate (but better still a bag of treats) for my efforts over the last weeks.
I liked jumping the hurdles best (they were only 2" high) and am looking forward to my intermediate course.

Later this week I'm told we are going away in the caravan again, the cats are being left at home and mummys daughter is coming to look after them, ahh, four days with mummy and daddy all to myself!!!

To Scoot or Pugtona?

It's been really hot here over the last few days I have to get lots of sleep on the cool kitchen floor.
Today I was washed, nice and cool followed by a game of chase the towel and chase anything in the garden until I was good and hot and sweaty again.
When I'm chased and get very excited I forget everything else and tuck my bottom in and with ears back run in mad circles around the house or garden. My parents call it the 'pug scoot' but I read that it is also called the 'pugtona' by other parents.
I know they want a picture of me while I scoot but I say..................................

Going to Skool

For the last five weeks my parents have been taking me to skool, I'm not sure if they are learning much but I'm really getting the hang of it.
The longer it takes to learn to sit/down/stand the more treats you get.

I love running through the tunnel and meeting other puppies but they don't understand the beauty of the pug face and don't want to play.

Friday was the fifth night and I was to show how well I'm learning my trick for the sixth week finale. I am to roll over, but prefer to just roll on my back and have my tummy and paws tickled, get loads more treats as well!

One of the favurite things about going to puppy classes is the ride there, one week we passed this beautiful albino peacock.

I always pay attention in my classes

The Bean Bag

In May my parents took me on my first holiday. I enjoyed a trip to Mid Wales to see Mummy's big daughter Nicola who lives with Jonathan in a flat up some steps.
Dogs are not allowed to stay there so we stayed in our caravan
I had my own bedroom in the caravan (although they kept mistakenly calling it the shower!) and got lots of attention from everyone on the site. Even the big strong builder man was very attentive.
I loved the soft bean bag in Nicola's flat so much that mummy  promised to buy me one of my own when we get home.

Here is a picture of me on the beanbag.
It's soft and lovely to sleep on but best of all I can chew the zip and if I'm left alone long enough can get through the two inner linings as well and watch the little polystyrene roll around the kitchen floor.
Now it is kept up high and they only let me sleep on it when I'm supervised.......some people are just no fun.

I have been a bit unlucky with my health, apparently they call it demodectic mange or something and I was born with it. This means I have to be bathed twice a day in a nasty chemical concoction but at least I have stopped being so itchy and scabby all the time.
It's inherited and I overheard them saying that I would have to be neutered now in case I pass it on.
Sounds like fun, I wonder what it means?

Chester - The early months

I was alone in my crate when my new parents arrived. My only brother had found his new parents the day before, they said he was 'different', I think they meant a bit of a scruff because my new parents fell in love with my looks as soon as they saw me. The lady said that I was the good looking one.

I was born on February 22nd near Scunthorpe and was whisked away to Culverthorpe, Lincolnshire on April 18th.
My new parents lavished me with toys, a new crate and a bed with a lovely chewable cushion.

I started on my cushion straight away and soon had the stuffing out of it, you can see the remains in the picture, 'Fang' they called this one!

My starting weight was 1.80kg and now, at five months I am 4.80kg. I like to watch my food being carefully weighed and then insisting on being fussed and cuddled before I eat it.
And of course I must have someone with me while I'm eating, don't want my parents thinking they can just go back to bed and leave me!

Puggy Le Peu alias Chester, at 3 months old

Chester is a very handsome pug, he's half American, that's why his coat is blonder than the UK pugs and his legs are a little longer, he's bigger all over really.
Within a month of bringing him home we discovered that he had a type of mange. It affected his face in particular and brought him out in angry weeping sores.
To treat this we had to bathe him every day in some very unpleasant chemicals but he never made a peep, perfect brave little boy!
Having just completed a course of chemo myself, he was a wonderful gift and really took my mind off things.
