A review of the year...............

Some people think that all we do is sleep

But you know that's just not true

We are like coiled springs, ready to pounce.....................

But we had fun at the Pug party in October, luckily we didn't have to undergo the embarrassment of our fellow pugs

Running, Drinking and Relaxing

Well not me running, Daddy was running, four miles, that's for mugs I told Maisie, we stayed with Mummy and watched. Daddies face turned a very bright red by the time he had finished, we looked the other way and pretended we weren't with him.
We had a lovely walk though and got to meet some nice friends.

I was drinking but not this!
We leapt into the garden the other morning, the sun was shining and we found these in our water bowl, I've only just got over the froglet incident and now.......
Not only were they in my water they were crawling all over the stone I'd left there to chew on that very morning, I couldn't face it ever again.

These creatures, daddy calls them water beetles apparently emerged from our pond and flew around the garden, we don't know why but every day for a week I had to share my drink with them.

It can all be a bit much so when Daddy moved the swing into the conservatory we got in quick to get some serious relaxing done, I feel Maisie and I have deserved it.......................

Though to be honest Maisie looks less than relaxed, she was obviously missing me!!

It is my duty to create a relaxing atmosphere

It is high time I wrote again and have asked daddy to help me while I sleep on his feet, sending vibrations through them as I snore. I snore so loudly that daddy has recorded it and it is now his ringtone on his mobile phone,
I am able to create a relaxing atmosphere by demanding regular and comfortable hugs from both mummy and daddy.
A fit and energetic pug as myself needs constant rest and what better way than snuggling up to a warm shoulder......................

And Daddy gets his turn to relax with me too and we discuss what I've been doing and what's for dinner, the news of the day, what's for dinner, when are we going for a walk and what's for dinner.

Although when it is warm outside.........

I let daddy use my swing and there is even room for Maisie sometimes

Don't think us lazy, we love having helping mummy keep fit by allowing her to tickle our tummies.........

A week or two ago we took fright, our front garden was being invaded, they ate our grass and left poo on it too (that wasn't so bad because we ate it until Daddy stopped us). A flock of sheep had wondered up our Close and gave mummy a shock staring in the window at her!!!

Now, what's for dinner..............................................

Bye for now, Chester and Maisie

It's my birthday YEAH

Mummy and daddy hadn't forgotten my birthday and said that we were going out in the car, even though they know I hate it, what a start to a girls birthday! We were safely strapped into our harnesses in the car for our trip, I escaped from mine within two miles as usual and sat on the floor of the car, mummy calls me the Houdini dog.

We first went to the pet store and I choose a lovely new collar, see picture gallery below and M and D bought me a new harness, I sat in it for the whole of the next journey just to please them.

Mummy also bought a book of dog friendly places so I'm hoping we might get to go on holiday with them soon.

Then we went to a common for a walk, we couldn't get very far because it was very wet and boggy but I found some lovely pony poo!
On the way home I escaped from my harness straight away so I could lie next to Chester.

Daddy had a photo shoot when we got home and a selection of my poses are posted below. Chester is my agent and any requests for copies should be directed through him, remember I particularly like cheese, any kind will do.
I've thrown in a picture of Chester too, he only sulks if left out.

I'm typing this from my bedroom, we have been sent to bed early for barking at the neighbours.

The official Maisie Moo Birthday Picture

Chester and me

Me Me Me............................

Oh, daddy has told me to stop adding any more pictures, even though I am the most beautiful pug in Great Britain, (well mummy and daddy say so and I believe them).

I'll try and pop back later and put a couple more on for my fans.

See you all later

Maisie

Don't make me angry.......

You won't like me when I'm angry................

Or when I suspect Mummy and Daddy have forgotten my Birthday!!!!!!

Maisie goes to the vet

An update from Maisie,
I have been having a bit of trouble and a bit sore so mummy and daddy took me to the vet
who said I have an infection, pyometra, so last Friday I was spayed, I'm still sore but am having tablets to make it better.

The vet also did some work on my eye so I now have two lots of tablets, two different eye drops and cream for my spots, wow!

Chester has a stomach bug and has to have some really nasty medicine, he says it tastes foul.

I forget occasionally and run around the garden if I get out without a lead then have to lay down when it hurts!

I'm due back to the vet next week to have my stitches removed and hope to be fit and well again by then.
The day before the operation we went to the beach as a treat, Chester liked the ice cream best, but I liked walking on the sand but didn't like the sea.

Here I'm relaxing at home with a feather, the Betty Davies look I think........

I had this picture taken tonight, you can just see my bandage. chester looks as though he is sulking through not getting enough attention.

It has been raining so much the water from the river Derwent is now up to our neighbours garden, I hope I don't have to learn to swim before I get better.

Back soooon.

Chester The Hooded Pug

Hooded Pug

It has been an interesting week, the rain hasn't stopped, Yorkshire is flooded and the run Daddy has been training for, along the canal bank has been cancelled.

When my foot was getting better I wanted to lick it all the time to take the itching away, how humiliating to be made to wear this.......................

I put on my most miserable face for this picture and promised not to lick my foot.
It did mean though when I put my head over the food bowl Maisie couldn't take my biscuits..Ha!

I have now been freed of my hood and am free to run around again without scarring the backs of mummy's and daddy's legs, (well how's a pug to judge the distance wearing that thing!) hearing their screams was kind of funny though.

Maisie's corner,
Chester was such a pain when he was unwell, as I said before demanding all the attention, his collar catching everyone in delicate places. I had to keep an eye on him and let him sleep next to me.

I have found a lovely comfy resting place. Every time Daddy kneels down I leap onto the back of his legs and snuggle in...

Today, we went out first thing this morning as usual and headed to my outdoor bowl for a nice drink to start the day. UGH!!! just look what had taken residence in my drinking bowl.......

The frogs were all over the garden, I can take them or leave them but Mummy and Daddy got into frog fescue mode and have been gathering them up and putting them by the ditch at the end of the garden for ages.
Bye for now from your Pug friends, Chester and Maisie

Trips to the vets

Over the past month I have been travelling to and from the vets. It all started in our old house when a lump came up between the toes of my left front paw.
The vet thought there might be something in there and gave me some tablets, it didn't go down so the vet said he would have to operate and see what was wrong. We called in on the big day but the swelling had gone down overnight and the vet said maybe I would be ok, mum and dad were very relieved.

After we moved it swelled up again, this time it wouldn't go down so last week I did have to spend the day at the vets. It wasn't to bad, I was at my cutest and the vet and nurses thought I was great.

You can see in the pictures that I wasn't at my best when I got home and soon had that hideous green plaster off, mum thought my leg had grown six inches!!

Mum had to try and get a new bandage on me but I wriggled and squirmed and made it really difficult, it was great fun.

So daddy took me back to the vets and they put on a nice white and blue bandage this time, I squirmed again so the vet, a nurse and Daddy had to hold me still to get it on.

You can see that I had a calming nurse (Maisie) to keep me from feeling to depressed while I recovered.

I didn't much like the second bandage either so earlier today I started to unravel it, now I have one that mummy and daddy put on and a plastic bag taped over the top to keep it dry.....how uncool!!!

One good thing comes of this, I know Daddy won't be tempted to ask me join him on his training but Maisie goes, she will learn one day.... ho ho.

It also of course means that I can't have a bath, Whoa, maybe this is a positive situation after all.

Of course I still have to guard the house from strangers but the element of surprise is lost due to the loud scuffing noise my bag encased paw makes as I hobble out to investigate any noises.
I have two lots of pills, the tablet one is feed to me in cheese. The other one is a capsule and the first time Daddy tried to get me to take it I bit it sending a shower of foul powder up my nose, it took ages to clear it out!
I must go now as all this writing has drained me, but leave one last picture to ensure you feel very sorry for this poor pug invalid.

There's no need to shed a tear at the suffering I'm going through, however food parcels are readily accepted.
These are especially needed now as I have been taken off puppy food and on something called 'Light', surely they are not suggesting.............
.
Maisie, wow what a week with Chester, me! me! me! it's been, he demands all the cuddles, treats, he even got the vet to give him real meaty dog food instead of the usual dry biscuits, I'm wondering when it will end.
I have tried to give my best puppy eyed downcast looks but just can't match Chester as his eyes are soooo big Pah!
I do get to run with daddy though but I've been getting a wheezy cough and mum is worried that I have a cold.
Now I'm asleep at daddies feet having dictated my piece earlier and that has quite worn me out.

The Jazz Singer

Maisie:

I'm settling in very well at my new home in Yorkshire and even found a backing band for my jazz sessions. I usually sing (bark) whenever anyone walks past our garden or a dog barks anywhere in the village.

Daddy is doing a fun run and I am his official trainer, I make him run most days and run with him to make sure he doesn't slack. Chester stays at home, he says running is for wimps! We have found some comfy spots, the conservatory, mummy's chair in the kitchen that she only got to sit on once.....

In fact it has been so relaxing I have my drinks brought to me now by the waiters - Mummy and Daddy!

Must go we are expecting supper to be delivered any time now.................

The move up North

Not long after my last post, was it that long ago!!! Mummy and Daddy said we were going to have to move as our house was being put up for sale.
They hunted in Lincolnshire for the ideal Pug paradise but there were no suitable residences so I suggested Yorkshire.

They were not very enthusiatic at first but Maisie and I found the perfect spot, a good size lawn, lots of trees (good for me) and lots of safe walks. For Maisie there is a shallow pond and she had jumped in five times on the first day and came out covered in weed and very smelly.

The moving day was very fraught, as you can see we carried on with what we do best.......

Although there was a bit of a to do about who was going to hold the soggy stinky rind stick.....

Daddy was a spoilsport and fenced in the pond on the second day but every few days we tunnel through for a quick dip!

Daddy had a very scary moment with our cat brother Sidney. On the way to Yorkshire from the cattery Sidney messed in his cat basket and as Daddy was cleaning it up he made a bid for freedom right next to the dual carriageway. It looked as though Sidney would be gone forever but he stopped to try and jump a fence and Daddy managed to grab him - phew.

Maisie's corner;

I am practising being a lady and have been tempting Chester with this lovely feather, I think it becomes me, don't you?

We will be back soon with pictures from our new garden including the swimming pool (pond), snack bar (old grass cutting dumped by previous occupant), mud treatment centre (stagnant ditch at end of garden) and best of all the cats pantry - Don't ask!!

February frolics

A pugs day is never complete without a nap and mummy and daddy have thoughtfully placed two comfy chairs in their office just for us (well we have made them ours).

Sometimes, when daddy forgets to turn the heating on we share, I think Maisie likes to be near me really!

Last weekend Daddy was painting a picture, we tried to help him and when the white paint pot was tipped over the suspects were lined up.............................

I told them it was Maisie, I was just splashed when the pot fell over.

Maisie has learnt to smile, though I'm not so sure myself that it is an improvement, what do you think?

Maisie -
I went to the vets last Friday and the vet said I was doing very well, my eyes are clearer but I still have to have the horrible drops put in, just as well I'm used to them now.
We had visitors as well last week, our Chester's old friend Lucy came with her new sister, 4 month old Maisie2. They are Springer Spaniels and Maisie2 was to excitable for me, I sat on Daddy's lap and watched while she chased Chester until he was exhausted, silly boy.
I call her Maisie2 because I am the only original Maisie!

Fun in the Snow

Our first snow! Daddy put us outside last week and the ground had changed colour (it was a bit cold too). Maisie looked quiet shocked as she took her first steps.

Maisie and I didn't like it at first but we soon put our fears behind us and went for it and we were soon having great fun.....

Of course after a bracing playtime comes a good long sleep, we both like to sleep and Maisie always finds the cosiest spots or sometimes we share a seat or even the floor if we are in the sun.

Speak to you again soon Chester and Maisie

The New Year (by Maisie)

I had a really tiring Christmas so it was good to to have a lovely sleep afterwards.....

My faourite present is my new coat, I love to wear it out and show what a beautiful Pug I have become. Here is a picture of me wearing it, and one with Chester included, he just jealous of my sleek looks.

I've included a picture of me with my daddy, I'm posing for this picture, normally I'd be found licking his ear or nibbling his nose.
